CMA is short for China Metrology Accreditation. Any inspection body that has obtained Laboraory Qualifcation Certoficate is approved to use this logo on inspection (examination and test) certificates and reports in accordance with the items shown on the certificate.

In accordance with Article 22 of Metrology Law of the People's Republic of China ,any product quality inspection body providing fair data for society must be qualified for measurement/test capability and reliability assessment by Metrology Department of provincial-level People's Government. Article 32,33,34,35 and 36 of Implementation Rules on Metrology Law of the People's Republic of China, metrology accreditation is a compulsory assessment on inspection bodies and formal ackonwledgement of specified measurement given by Government authority. As the assessment is callen Metrology Accreditation in the Implementation Rules on Metrology Law of the People's Republic of China, The name of Metrology Accreditaition is still used today. As a result, all quality inspection bodies and other types of laboratories such as Product Quailty Supervision & Inspection Stations, Environmental Monitoring Stations, Disease Control and Prevention Centers providing fair data for the society must be certified with CMA (China Metrology Accreditation) by Metrology Department of provincial-level People's Government.
